GNU Bourne Again SHell

O bash é um intérprete de linguagem de comandos compatível com sh que executa comandos lidos a partir do input standard ou de um ficheiro. O bash também incorpora funcionalidades úteis das shells Korn e C (ksh e csh).

A bash pretende ser uma implementação que satisfaça a especificação IEEE POSIX Shell and Tools (Grupo de trabalho 1003.2 do IEEE).

O "Programmable Completion Code" de Ian Macdonald está agora no pacote bash-completion.
