네트워크 블록 디바이스(NBD)는 네트워크를 통해 블록 장치 (하드디스크, 플로피, 또는 CD-ROM)를 에뮬레이트하는 클라이언트/서버 프로토콜로, 시스템이 네트워크를 통해 스왑하거나 원시 네트워크 디스크 공간을 다른 용도로 사용할 수 있습니다.

그러나, 여러 클라이언트에서 하나의 네트워크 블록 장치에 동시에 쓰는 것은 권장되지 않으며 데이터 손실이 발생할 수 있습니다. 여러 클라이언트가 원격 리소스를 공유하려면 NFS 또는 Coda와 같튼 네트워크 파일 시스템을 사용하십시오.
