access point e server di autenticazione per Wi-Fi ed Ethernet

Autenticatore per IEEE 802.11 AP e IEEE 802.1X/WPA/WPA2/WPA3/EAP.

Inizialmente, hostapd era un componente opzionale in spazio utente per driver Host AP. Aggiunge più funzionalità alla gestione IEEE 802.11 di base inclusa nel driver del kernel: usa un server RADIUS esterno di autenticazione per il controllo degli accessi basato sull'indirizzo MAC, un autenticatore IEEE 802.1X e chiavi WEP dinamiche, account RADIUS, un autenticatore WPA/WPA2/WPA3 (IEEE 802.11i/RSN) e chiavi TKIP/CCMP dinamiche.

La versione attuale permette la gestione di altri driver, integra un autenticatore EAP (cioè, permette un'autenticazione completa senza richiedere un server di autenticazione RADIUS esterno) e un server di autenticazione RADIUS per autenticazioni EAP.

hostapd funziona con i seguenti driver:

 * driver basati su mac80211 con gestione del master mode [linux],
 * driver Host AP per Prism2/2.5/3 [linux],
 * interfaccia del driver per il livello net80211 di FreeBSD [kfreebsd],
 * qualunque driver per Ethernet su cavo per l'autenticazione IEEE 802.1X.
