USB/IP è un sistema per condividere dispositivi USB in rete.
Per condividere i dispositivi USB con le loro complete funzionalità tra i computer, USB/IP incapsula le "richieste USB" in pacchetti IP e le trasmette tra i computer.
Le applicazioni e i driver originali per i dispositivi USB possono essere usati per dispositivi USB remoti senza alcuna modifica. Un computer può usare dispositivi USB remoti come se fossero direttamente collegati.
Attualmente USB/IP non fornisce alcun controllo degli accessi o cifratura. Dovrebbe essere usato solamente in ambienti fidati.
Questo pacchetto fornisce il componente server "usbipd" e lo strumento client "usbip".
