La suite VPN strongSwan usa lo stack nativo IPsec nel kernel Linux standard. Gestisce entrambi i protocolli IKEv1 e IKEv2.

L'avviatore e lo script "ipsec" associato controllano il demone charon dalla riga di comando. Analizza ipsec.conf e carica le configurazioni nel demone.
