Hurtig implementering af et nøgle-værdi lager. Miljøer bruges ofte som nøgle-værdi lagre, men hver gang en ny nøgle bruges, så tilføjes den til R's globale symboltabel, hvilket medfører en lille mængde hukommelseslæk. Dette kan være problematisk i tilfælde hvor mange forskellige nøgler bruges. Fastmap undgår denne problemstilling med hukommelseslæk ved at implementere kortet via datastrukturer i C++.
