Programmet kører i qmails opstartsskript for at understøtte alle dine eksisterende .forward-filer automatisk. Individuelle brugere kan skifte til .qmail-mekanismen efter behov.

Dot-forward understøtter videresendelse, programleveringer og kommentarer. Programmet understøtter ikke filleveringer eller :include: (dog genkender programmet forsøg på fillevering, og afviser levering så du har en chance for at opsætte en .qmail-fil).
