OpenStack Compute, med kodenavnet Nova, er en omliggende controller for skyberegning som er designet moudlært og nemt kan udvides og tilpasses. Udover dens »normale« API (OpenStack API), så understøtter den også Amazon EC2 API, og programmet understøtter mange forskellige databasemotorer (inklusive SQLite, MySQL og PostgreSQL), hypervisorer (KVM, Xen) og brugermappesystemer (LDAP, SQL).
