Gocryptfs er bygget oven på det glimrende go-fuse (https://github.com/hanwen/go-fuse) FUSE-bibliotek og dets LoopbackFileSystem-API.

Dette projekt blev inspireret af EncFS og forsøger at rette dets sikkerhedsproblemer men stadig have god ydelse (sammenligninger (https://nuetzlich.net/gocryptfs/comparison/#performance)).
