Ario je pokročilý klient MPD (Music Player Daemon). Rozhraní programu používané pro procházení knihovny médií se inspirovalo programem Rhythmbox, Ario je přitom mnohem rychlejší a přitom méně náročné. Program používá rozhraní GTK2, k detekci serveru MPD avahi a pro stažení vzdálených souborů (obaly a texty) pak curl. Obsahuje různé pluginy jako odesílání audioscrobbler/last.fm a podporu multimediálních kláves.
