Approx 是一个用于 Debian 软件包文件的 HTTP 代理服务器。 它根据需求从远程仓库获取文件并缓存以供本地使用。

如果您需要为大量局域网中的机器安装或升级 .deb 软件包，使用 Approx 将帮助您节省时间和网络带宽。 不管局域网中有多少台客户端要安装，每个文件都只从远程网站上下载一次。 Approx 缓存通常需要几 GB 的磁盘空间。

Approx 也简化了客户端机器的管理： 更换镜像服务器时只需在 approx 的配置文件中进行改动，而不修改客户端的 /etc/apt/sources.list 文件。

Approx 可以用于替代 apt-proxy，且不需要修改客户端的 /etc/apt/sources.list 文件，它也是 apt-cache 的一个替代品。
